While taking pictures of Fruit I decided to start playing with Depth of Field which required playing around with the aperature settings (f-stops) and different lighting. If you want to get really close and have clear photos you should use a tripod or camera support and use the timer feature of your camera.

Here are some Fruit links:

What is Depth of Field - The amount of distance between the nearest and farthest objects that appear in acceptably sharp focus in a photograph. Depth of field depends on the size of the aperture, the distance of the camera from the subject, and the focal length of the lens. The bigger the aperture, the greater the depth of field. If the camera focuses on a distant subject, the depth of field will be greater than if it was focused on a near subject; and if you fit a wide-angle lens to your camera, it will give you greater depth of field than a normal lens.

What I realised when taking fruit pictures and extreme macro is the need for good, balanced lighting and this led me to investigate the Light Tent (see next post).

I also started investigating Macro lens, extension tubes and filters.
